THE SMOOTH SOUNDS OF THE CARIBBEAN

When you hear this music, you’ll feel like you’re on a slow boat to Saint Thomas -- It’s the real thing! Pan Loco was founded by musicians Bob Lucas and Justin Petty, and can can accommodate any request from a steel drum soloist to a 5-piece group.

We perform year-round throughout New England at formal and informal venues including weddings, parties, corporate functions, boat cruises, college dances and festivals. We can make your special day even more enjoyable by playing your special song on steel drums for a memory to last a lifetime.

Pan Loco also offers an educational enrichment program for audiences of all ages - learn about the history of the steel drum and Carnival with hands-on participation. Perfect for schools, libraries, and learners from ages 9 to 90.

In business for 30 years, we have performed at more than 2,000 events, all the while, earning a solid and trusted reputation as polished professionals who have the appropriate look, feel, sound and attitude you expect for your event.  We also love what we do . . . and this will be obvious!

Bob grew up in Melrose, MA playing piano, bass, and percussion, and majored in education at the University of New Hampshire. He started playing steel drums and drum set in 1989 with the Atlantic Clarion Steel Band and performed with the group throughout Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts.  Bob traveled to Trinidad & Tobago in 1990, where he played with Phase Two Pan Groove and Jit Samaroo. He co-founded Pan Loco Steel Band in Boston with Justin Petty in 1991 and they have been playing at public and private functions all over New England ever since.  Bob and Justin arrange all of the music the band plays. Bob also developed an educational enrichment program exploring steel drum history for students of all ages that has been presented at schools, libraries, senior centers and venues throughout the region.
